Mixed Sextet

This work for two oboes, oboe d’amore, English Horn, bassoon, and contrabassoon is one of the first original compositions of its type. Henderson was a professional oboist and teacher, in addition to being a talented composer.FIRST PUBLICATION.
Lassus was one of the greatest composers of the Counter-Reformation, and this is one of his most beautiful motets. The five-part vocal work has been transcribed by Bruce Gbur for double reed quintet or sextet (oboe 1, oboe 2 or oboe d’amore, English horn or bassoon, bassoon 1, bassoon 2, and optional contrabassoon). A translation of the text is included. A useful work for Double Reed Days, studio recitals, or just to improve sight-reading and intonation.
This 10-minute tone poem is scored for two flutes, oboe, clarinet in B-flat, and two bassoons. Composed in 1983-84, it describes feelings evoked by a walk along the Delaware River. This is the first publication of this charming work.
